OPEN HEART

Nine years ago I underwent open Heart surgery to fix a long term fault. The experience is something that had a profound effect on my body and mind as the experience has on many young people.

Using Art as a medium to make sense of the experience, this series of paintings are my interpretation of the heart as something physical, metaphorical and emotional.

What my heart is and all the things I associate with it, the result of it being disconnected from my body for the hours required to do the procedure are explored in these paintings.
